Powers/Abilities: Spatial Manipulation

Weaknesses: Messing up with this power may be very confusing. User may not possess Conscious Spatial Awareness or Cosmic Awareness, which could make teleporting living organisms dangerous. User will lose control of their power if under a lot of mental stress. Cannot teleport others who can also teleport. Require target to be in line of sight to work.May be unable to create space, being limited to shaping from already existing sources. Construct structural strength may be limited by the users will. In most cases constructs will return back into their original state if the user becomes unconscious, leaves the proximity or otherwise loses contact/control of the item. May be limited on how complicated constructs they can create (ie. no/limited amount of moving parts). User may find it hard to use all these capabilities all at once. User can only teleport matter, not energy, with Remote Teleportation. User also requires physical contact to transport things. User must touch the object/person he wishes to teleport, unless he is location swapping. Location swapping requires eye contact and intense focus to do, as well practice to perfect the timing. User can only teleport things with this ability a few hundred feet around himself, and he must be able to see where he is teleporting things. The user is limited to creating up to two or three portals at once. The bigger the portal size and traveling distance, the more energy is required. Portals will only stay open for a few seconds before closing. Portals may become unstable if the user is under emotional or physical duress.

Biography:

Areum Ha-neul was born and raised in the district of Busan, South Korea, and was (well still is) also the youngest of five other children (Hans has three older sisters and two older brothers). His mother was (and still is) an Aerospace Engineer and his father a CEO of a pharmaceutical, so they had more than enough money to support their large family; as well as just about any other activities they may have wanted to be in. Even with the wealth the family had, they were by no means ‘stuck up’ or ‘snooty’. All six children went to the public schools, and participated in everyday activities; the only true thing that really highlighted their money was, the size of their home.

Back to Ha-neul, he grew up of course with just about everything he wanted and everything he needed; never felt neglected or left out, even with the size of his family. The one thing that he did sort of hate about have five older siblings, was all the expectations he had to live up to. While his parents and siblings had all expressed to him, not to worry about having to live in any sort of shadow; Ha-neul always did have that little notion that he wouldn’t ever amount to anything as great as they had. It made him a bit of a shy, and somewhat timid kid growing up; but he grew out of it rather quickly.

(This going to be around age 10-11). Before having grown out of this phase though, he did love learning about astrology (yeah, a bit of cliche that he’s got spatial manip, and loves space and shit; but oh well). It was more something he shared with his mother, than his father or other siblings (like his own little getaway thing, he was the only one really interested in it; so he didn’t feel the pressure of competition). He loved learning about the different constellations, and the backstories about how each got their names (both Greek and Roman, cause he’s sort of a nerd. Well a nerd with tons of layers and all). Ha-neul’s mom would take him with her sometimes, to work. Sort of like a ‘bonding experience’ (more along the lines of Hans playing with the equipment, looking through the telescope and reading through the lab books).

The way he found out about his other favorite activities was through one of his older sisters’. She had been listening to some old music (totally the Chainsmokers, Martin Garrix, Calvin Harris Steve Aoki, Avicii, Hardwell and all other related artists yah know), and introduced Ha-neul to what would become one (emphasis on ‘one’) of his favorite activities (well in Hans’ eyes his friggin life calling, cause he may or may not be a bit of a nub). Never big on the current music (be it KPop or charters in the U.S. or pretty much anywhere I guess), Ha-neul took a liking to the different beats each artist used in their individual tracks.

It was very pleasing to his ears, so he transferred all of the songs to his own music device (I say device cause like what, it’s IPhone 50 already? And like…do they still even like use CDs still? Who knows) using his laptop to strip down the music to just the different beats, with help from one of his older brothers. (Hans is like 10 here, but loves techy stuff. But still needs his brother’s help and all.) It took months of good behavior, asking (more like begging, cause his parents really didn’t want all that noise in the house) for his own little DJ set. Nothing fancy or hard to work, just something he could start making his own tracks and tampering with them. It was something Ha-neul loved, something he could spend up to hours on days end doing (which of course wasn’t exactly something he could do, cause like school and other activities and shit).

(So we’re gonna jump forward to like, age 13 here folks; which is where Hans figures out he’s a frick frackin’ Metahuman.) A few years later, and quite a bit has changed personality wise for Ha-neul. Now he was more outgoing, social, and growing into his own person. He’d began saving up his own money (like allowance his parents gave him, and from a few little tasks he’d done for neighbors) to start buying and expanding on his own equipment for his music making. Now he had three top of the line laptops for DJ use, along with an old turntable that actually was a New Year’s present from his eldest brother. Since he was so young at this age, he couldn’t very well just walk into a nightclub and ask to play a few original sets (nor did he have the proper connections or management). So Ha-neul simply took to making sets and tracks, then saving them; taking it a step further and creating a SoundCloud with his own alias (something like Areum Astral, or…DJ Lit….I don’t know, something sort of dorky cause he’s like 13).

The discovery of his Meta Human status came as a huge surprise for Hans, and the discovery itself happened completely at random. His siblings and him were out having a day off together at one of the many nearby beaches; just relaxing and having like a family get together. Ha-neul had wandered off on his own for a little bit, trying (and failing) to find shark teeth that had been washed ashore (listen, he’s got a thing for pointy and sharp objects). As he was searching, his thoughts had drifted off towards meaningless things (super relatable); one of them eventually drifting towards the thought of wanting to get into the water and past the net put up (like for keeping out jellyfish, the occasional shark and rough currents). Swimming was something he’d always enjoyed, and as his thoughts continued to fixate on going out; he soon found himself walking through a small portal right behind the line of the net. Lucky for him, it was only him in the little area he’d been in; and just crowded enough to look as though he’d climbed over the barrier. He’d gotten away with just a stern talking to from his family and a grounding, but the whole ordeal left him wondering how’d he gotten way out there from his spot on the shore.

Days later from the incident and Hans was trying to see if he could open another portal (in the privacy of his own home), after multiple failed attempts; he wouldn’t even use his newly found power for another few weeks. While waiting for one of his sibling’s to come and pick him up from his swimming lessons (sort of a downside to being the youngest, he’d been forgotten a few times before), to be exact. It was raining hard and he had just stepped out to meet one of his sisters, when he’d ended up slipping on one of the wet steps and falling forward. He didn’t recall much, just hearing his sister crying out in shock and horror; and shutting his eyes tightly, preparing for the fall. Wondering if he had any chance of making it without any broken bones (these are some high and steep steps). Then he was falling into his sister, at the bottom of the steps; having falling through and unknowingly opened a portal right in front of her. The pair were shocked but once again lucky, that there hadn’t been anyone paying attention. From there they walked home, not talking what had happened until in the safety of their home (where he also told his parents and other siblings).

Now eighteen, things have changed even more for Ha-neul. He learnt to manage his Meta abilities best he could without any proper form of training, while keeping up his everyday life. Hans’ SoundCloud now is something that is growing everyday in popularity, and soon enough he was making sets and selling them to some of the most popular artists in the country (his manager per say was one of his sisters, so he could keep a low vibe. This is mainly for his other ‘hobby’ which we’ll get into right now). But he also was one of the most prominent (as well as youngest, but the public don’t know that yet) killers in his district. It was something that he’d done on a spur of the moment, to some guy that had threatened him (on like multiple occasions, and they weren’t just little threats. They’re like full out life threatening ones). From that point on though, Hans was already hooked to the rush he got when killing; but of course had to keep this a secret from his family (and fanbase). This actually wasn’t the reason for him up and leaving though, it was actually due to him having a slight mishap with his powers. This go around, he hadn’t been quite as lucky and ended up having C.A.R.M.A on his trail. His parents and siblings all agreed it was best for him to flee, so sent him as far away as possible (to Pansaw). Though there was a large C.A.R.M.A HQ there, he would have a fresh start and other Metas to hide about in.
